Winter Riding in Florida

Sunday January 24th

While most of the east coast is snowbound, we here in Florida have been facing cold temperatures (for us) and strong winds ( gusts of up to 30 mph).  It has not been great riding for us either.  It's not because we are wimps....it's because we are used to much warmer temperatures than NJ.  Think about it.  If you are used to 60 degrees and the temperatures drop to 35.....that's a 25 degree drop.  If we are used to 75 and the temps drop to 42.....as they are this morning.....that's a 33 degree drop and it feels cold to us Floridians!  Everything is relative.

Some of the NJ people have joined me on rides while they are visiting here.  Marty K stayed with me for a few days last week and rode with Dennis and Bob S and Bob W and Bruce K.    Ira plans to brave the cold with Bob S and ride this morning.  I understand that there will be a Newell visit this week as well.

What did I expect when moving to FL??? Year round riding??  You bet I did but it's not to be....at least not this year.  What moving to FL did was allowed to get re-fired instead of being retired.  Even with temps in the 40's I am more active ( off the bike) and do a lot more walking with my two dogs and have a whole new state to explore.  I would be shivering and not leaving the house if I was in NJ!  Re-fired.....not retired....is my new mantra.

Be safe those of you in NJ who are stuck in the snow.  We Floridians will be thinking of you as we are able to get out and enjoy the outdoors.....whether on or off the bike.  Come visit and ride with the SW FL contingent of the PFW.  You too may get re-fired!
